This French numbers lesson is very comprehensive and will challenge students in a fun and meaningful way with 5 different activities to practice and master French numbers. This product includes: Numbers 0-50 chart, PDF Numbers 51-100 chart, PDF Dictée, MP3: 20 random numbers + student response sheet + answer key Dictée, MP3: 50 simple math equations + student response sheet + answer key Quizlet study set: 0-50 Quizlet study set: 51-100 Quizlet study set: Multiplication tables 2-10 How to use this lesson Dictée #1 : This dictée is less than 3 minutes. Give each student a response sheet. Students listen to the dictée and write the number they hear both as words and digits. Dictée #2 : This dictée lasts about 10 minutes and requires a lot of concentration. It is called CALCUL RAPIDE. Students hear 50 simple math equations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Technically students as young as 9 or 10 should be able to do the math. I got this idea from my daughter’s 3rd grade class in France (CE2). Of course, being in French makes “simple math” a lot more difficult and will challenge even high school age non-native speakers.

Each dictation is a separate audio file. Answer key and translation provided for each dictation. Sample: TITRE : Un joli endroit TEXTE : Nous aimons notre quartier. On y trouve un parc, une boulangerie et une école maternelle. Les rues sont toutes nommées en l'honneur de personnes célèbres. La rue où nous habitons a été nommée en l'honneur d'un homme politique très connu. Mes parents, eux, habitent une rue qui porte le nom d'un chanteur qui est né dans notre ville. "Dictation is the transcription of spoken text: one person who is dictating speaks and another who is taking dictation writes down the words as they are spoken. Among speakers of several languages, dictation is used as a test of language skill, similar to spelling bees in the English-speaking world."
